Kudou Shinichi ist ein junger High School Detektiv, der schon einige Fälle mit der Polizei gelöst hat. Genervt von den Vorbereitungen, zu der Klassenfahrt beschließt er nicht mitzufahren. Das ändert sich schlagartig als er Zuhause ankommt und ein Herausforderungsschreiben an der Tür findet. Welches eben besagt, das der Kidnapper jemanden während der Klassenfahrt entführen wird. Er nimmt die Herausforderung an, und macht sich auf den Weg einen weitern Fall zu lösen, sowie ein Versprechen mit Ran einzulösen.
